Commentary
I questioned the use of "merry chase", as I imagine in the context that inspired the metaphor, those foxes definitely weren't having merry times. Quite bad times, in fact. Grace is proposing Sarah be confident and, dare I say it, foxy, however, and that may well be appropriate to a "merry chase."
ON THE OTHER HAND, if we take the "chase" part too seriously, we're now invoking the image of her literally being chased, and that's no good, either. But it does sort of fit that the metaphor used to describe this messed up scenario would itself be messed up, so maybe that works.
Anyway, I am a brilliant word-writing person, and there is no criticism whatsoever to be had regarding how I utilize foxes and merriment.
