Commentary
If nothing else, attempting to describe something, or simply writing things down about it, and help a person organize their own thoughts. I make use of dry erase boards sometimes for this purpose. I'll take pictures if I really want to save what's written on them, but mostly just the act of writing it out is valuable.
Of course, I've never done that in an attempt to figure out who I am and what I want. What if I turn out to be a werewolf out to steal all the cheese or something? It's probably best I never try it.
