Cinderella - 31 - HD

General Wicked Stepmother

- At egscomics

"A stepmother goes to the ball with the daughters she has, not the daughters she wants." WOW that's harsh! I wasn't even trying to write something harsh! I was just winging writing something relevant that was general-like!

Commentary

- Previous, calmer discussion on the subject

Referencing some quote about aiming for the moon and at least winding up among the stars if you miss. Basically, be ambitious, and even if you fail at your intended your goal, you can still find success!

Which is fair enough, intent-wise, but it's probably best not to take the quote too literally. I don't know how long it would take to reach a star after "missing the moon", but it would probably be more than enough time to think of a less questionable metaphor.

"You heard nothing!"

I was originally planning to have a wide view of everyone in panel one in silhouette along with a carriage to further emphasize that they were about to go to the ball.

Then I realized what Bishop was saying about Prince Elliot PROBABLY shouldn't be said in front of the carriage driver.

Likely the driver's already heard the rumors (coachmen hear all the good stories), but yeah, best if he can't say he heard it from any of the main characters. "Oh, I heard it directly from Third Policeman, I did!"

Has Dan ever done a tf sequence that wasnt cool?

Mark Williams

Only if it's cool.

Opus the Poet

This is actually very practical of Bishop. But I still wish she'd treat Tedd better.

Morenin

Oh, this is very specific to Elliot in this story (partially fueled by Princess Ellen having a gal pal).

Dan Shive

See, I never thought of it, but adaptations insisting on the Prince or nothing never struck me well. I like Bishop Tremayne.

WebWombat

Whichever way, plant a flag

Bastiandantilus

I never considered the ball itself as evidence of the prince not taking interest in women. Most royals are expected to limit their liaisons to fellow high nobles. And possibly servants.

Stephen Gilberg

If you miss the moon, you might still land on a temporary satellite, likely natural if it’s medieval times, but possibly magical in nature, and maybe artificial if launched using magic or anachronistic technology, and if not a satellite, you are at least likely to land far from home, and travel brings growth, expanding one’s horizons, perhaps literally, if there is even a literal interpretation that doesn’t involve enlarging the planet.

Bastiandantilus

Who else is looking forward to a possibly sailor senshi style transformation for Ted in the future?
