UPDATE: Next Video

Hey everyone, hope you're having a good October. It's been a while, so I figured I'd give you an update on the next video, Yuuyami Doori Tankentai (PS1).

For those with little time, the quick and dirty is I just finished the script. Look at that screenshot. It's the longest thing I've written for the channel by far. The video is not going to be ready in time for Halloween. Thank you for your support and patience. I love you. See you in November!

For everyone else who wants a bit more behinds-the-scenes action, read on!

So first of all, I did not expect Yuuyami Doori Tankentai to be an RPG-length game. It's essentially a spiritual successor to Twilight Syndrome, so I was expecting a similar length. Both Twilight Syndrome games together took about 12 hours to play.

My first run of YDT took 28 hours. Over the course of 2 more playthroughs, I ended up spending 82 hours playing it. I'll be going into extensive detail as to why 3 runs were needed and why it's such a long game in the video, but yeah, just from the game-playing phase of this project, I was already starting to realize the video was going to be much bigger than I anticipated.

I knew that for a fact after I finished the script outline. That alone was 20 pages, and then I wrote a 194-page script. It's also an incredibly dense game, mechanically and narratively. Sooo much to talk about with this one. For reference, the script for the Lain video (which is the longest video on the channel right now at 2hrs 50-ish min) was 117 pages. So I'm anticipating this video is going to be around 4-ish hours.

All that to say, there's no way I'm getting it done in time for Halloween, which is a bit disappointing. I've been working on it almost every day since I posted the Sweet Home video, hoping against hope I could somehow get it done in time, but it's just impossible. Those who've been around for a while know that I like to release stuff on a relatively quick schedule, considering the density of my videos. Ultimately though, I know when I need to take my time to make sure a video is great rather than try to rush it out for an arbitrary date.

There's still a tiny bit of polishing to do on the script, then at least a couple days for voiceover recording, then the actual video edit, so I'm hoping to have it done around mid-November. I'm really excited about this one, so I can't wait to show it to you as much as you're all waiting to watch it.

So that's it for now. Still a TON of work to do, but I think it will be worth it. All I can say is thank you all for your support every month. It's what allows me to sometimes get so lost in these games that I actually live in them for extended periods of time. Hopefully in the end, we all benefit from that. Catch you soon!

Dungeon Chill. Out.

I was thinking the same thing! I think chill has his stuff down as for content he wants to cover, so I'll watch whatever, but would definitely be presently surprised for some love-de-lic games. (Although I am playing Moon atm and don't want spoilers but would be very tempted to watch a whole dungeon chill video on it lol)

Can’t wait ✨ For lack of a better place to write this: Have you looked at any Love-de-Lic games? (Moon: Remix RPG is their most famous) but they have a ps1 game called UFO: A Day in the Life which I’ve never seen covered anywhere online. May be worth investigating

You could take years and I’d still wait!
