RIP AND TEAR (My Way to Your Heart) - MP3!
Added 2020-04-18 17:21:28 +0000 UTCI'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to do a DOOM song. Not because I didn't want to, simply because I knew that DOOM demanded METAL. And if you're familiar enough with my work to be here on Patreon you can probably tell that METAL is not really within my wheelhouse.
So I put thoughts of doing a song for Eternal aside.
Until a couple of months ago, I was browsing beats and instrumentals for inspiration when I found this one. I instantly fell in love with the idea of doing something cheesy and pop like with it. The problem was very few games really need that pop-treatment and even if one did, could I make that entertaining? What's the comedic hook to that?
Then it hit me, what if the joke was that it WAS a pop track? How about trying to make the cheesiest pop song I could out of the LEAST appropriate source material? It all clicked into place.
Doom is that perfect mix of a completely bloodthirsty, hyper-violent, entirely non-pop piece of source material but still with a decent, self aware sense of humour about it that is open to some well meaning fun poking. Sure, I could have done a Call of Duty pop track, but it's so serious and kinda bland that it would have been too tonally jarring. Something about a heartfelt Doom love song just works, at least in my mind. They gel.
So here it is! Probably the stupidest track I've ever put together! Enjoy!
