Let's talk about Hulk Hogan
Added 2025-01-08 14:31:31 +0000 UTCI want to start by acknowledging that I’m not very familiar with Hulk Hogan beyond his reputation as a professional wrestler who made significant contributions to the wrestling industry. However, I’m curious to understand why he seems to be such a polarizing figure. Specifically, why was he booed so heavily at the event?
I’ve read through some of the comments in previous posts about the Netflix RAW debut, and the opinions appear to be divided. Some suggest it’s due to his support for Donald Trump, but that raises the question of why The Undertaker, who is also a known Trump supporter, received cheers instead. Others have mentioned that Hogan is considered a pathological liar—if that’s the case, could you elaborate on what he has lied about? I’d appreciate any insights you could share.

A few main things... 1. The racism - Gawker released a recorded phone call of Hulk very mad his daughter was dating a black man, he uses the N word a lot in the call and says multiple times that he is a racist, statements like "I am a racist, to a point, f**king n****rs", "I guess we're all a little racist", "I don't give a f**k if she f**ks an 8 foot tall basketball player. If we're gonna f**k with n****rs let's get a rich one". This is basically universally disliked and nearly anyone who has heard and not forgotten this phone call is going to be booing him. There are also many other instances in his career that look like they could be racist, and a phone call of him saying in plain english he is racist basically confirms they all were. 2. The Trump support - This goes beyond what Undertaker did, if you don't watch Undertaker's podcast you probably wouldn't know he supports Trump. Meanwhile Hulk is at all the Trump rallies, doing speeches, headlined the RNC, constantly on the news supporting Trump, mentions Trump any time he gets the chance. Particularly in Los Angeles this was working against him, there are probably arenas where this would have people cheering him but not in LA. 3. The backstage politics - In both WWF/WWE and WCW Hulk was a giant name and had a ton of creative control. If he fought to win a match he would win the match. He viewed the other up and coming wrestlers as competition trying to steal his spot and used his power to try and stop people like Sting, Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Vader, Jeff Jarrett, Shawn Michaels, DDP, Booker T. He would refuse to lose to these people, raising himself up by shoving everyone else down. Anyone who is a fan of these people will dislike Hulk for hurting their careers, or just making the shows worse by insisting they be all about him (particularly bad in WCW) 4. The union bust - Jesse Ventura was trying to start a union for the wrestlers and gave a speech to the wrestlers about it. The next day he got a call from Vince saying if he ever mentioned the word union again he would be fired on the spot. Years later in a lawsuit it came out that Hulk was the one who told Vince about the speech, likely because a union would make it harder to keep all the backstage power to himself. Anyone pro-union would dislike him for this. 5. The lies - He just lies nonstop about everything, too much for me to cover here but this video goes over it all. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AukVofRrSP8 The worst ones were lying about being injured in matches to hurt wrestlers careers, particularly he claims Undertaker broke his neck after being asked many times to take care of him but the footage showed it was the safest tombstone ever where his head didn't even come close to touching the ground. This was Hulk trying to make Undertaker seem dangerous to derail his career. He also lied about wrestlers shooting on him for similar reasons or wrestlers bringing guns to shows and lighting things on fire. There are some mildly bad ones like lying about doing make-a-wishes or lying about discovering Kevin Owens or lying about being on shows he wasnt or getting injured slamming andre. Then there are just wierd ones like lying about Metallica asking him to join their band and be their guitarist, lying about the size of his dick, lying about being offered movie roles he never was, saying Mike Tyson was too scared of him to wrestle him, saying Elvis was a Hogan fan, that the Yankees asked him to play for them. People who know pathological liars or just don't like liars in general will dislike him. If they know the details some of the lies are pretty disgusting beyond the general trend of just lying nonstop. All together anyone can find multiple reasons to dislike Hulk even if yes, left-leaning people probably have more reasons. Any wrestling fan would just not like him because every wrestler who talks about him outside of kayfabe has basically nothing good to say. In comparison you would have a hard time finding a wrestler who has a single bad thing to say about Undertaker.

Thus, screwing over many other wrestlers and made a lot of enemies. Outside of wrestling well he is a Racist. I can't remember the direct quote, so correct me if im wrong. He stated that I would never let my daughter date a Black guy( Racist word). He will be universally hated no matter what, and in many peoples top 5 wrestlers, he's on number 5 only for the sake of what he did for wrestling.
