Omg that is to funny, how can an author right a story and not know who did it loll. Its interesting to know its a loose adaptation of the The Big sleep i have heard of that before

2025-05-16 21:44:11 +0000 UTCAs y'all said, the plot is VERY complicated. No one ever wonders about the title, it seems. The Big Lebowski is a (loose) adaptation of The Big Sleep - which is notorious for being the most complicated noir ever, both book and movie. So much so that when Nobel laureate William Faulkner was penning the screenplay he called the book's author, Raymond Chandler, to ask who killed a particular character. Chandler drunkenly screamed at Faulkner to "learn to read" and hung up. Chandler called back the next day, apologizing, saying he reread his own book...and ALSO didn't know who committed the murder in question. 🤔🤣 Worthy of note: the Coens loosley base most of their scrips off early 20th century novels. And while their film Barton Fink is inspired by their own experience of screenwriting in Hollywood - William Faulkner is a character (by a different name) in the film.
