A commander had an outpost to hold, but just for a few days. She ran out of standards quite early on in the piece. Knowing that who ever was going to be present there was going to be expended, she turned to the port area to find some hired help.
Zuvic had sent her contractors into another location, completely deleting the presence there. The commanders were unsure of what was making their standards disappear. But it may be better to use "non employees".
Sending her PSU to the bar at the port area, hanging around were a lot of independent operators. Pirates, criminals, thieves out for a quick buck, looking for their next job. Normally Black Faction means trouble to them, heavy trouble. Most of them haven't even served with a company. The best they have done is roughing up some other independent contractor.
The offer is there, she needed 6, 15,000 CR per day. Two day job. she got 6, not necessarily the cream of the crop. Non had worn Black or Red. Those who had knew exactly what was going on and stayed away, because if black faction doesn't want to risk their own, it must be dangerous as hell.
Tough girl stories fill the transport on the way over. Lots of bluffing, posturing. "these BFC standards are soft, only good in numbers" says one. They get to the base and get given uniforms, but full faced masks. The commander says "this is to protect your identity" but she really means is that they need to make a distinction between their stock and borrowed stock.
They roll out to the area and not long in the firefight starts. one goes down and the others fire back. The game of dress ups for the desperate criminals and pirates turns into play the target as their elite foe makes very fast work of them.
