Which project do you care more about - Crafting or an Adventure?

For the Patreon 125 Goal I put an adventure; I'm still going to work on that and eventually put it out, but I wanted to pose the question to you people here, because at the end of the day... you out there are who I make content for.

So, with the understanding that both are coming eventually, which of the "long term" projects would you like to see first? Crafting, or and Adventure?

I'd previously said that I refused to put Crafting as a patreon goal because I don't think I can promise a system that people will like for sure, and I still have that doubt. I typed up a previous version, and decided that one needed to be refactored from scratch...

...but with that said, I've seen a lot of conversations recently turn to the lack of a Crafting system.

Crafting isn't a project that would probably ever finish (crafting is a limitless endeavor, and a solution like WotC which just to say time + money = anything isn't super useful in my opinion), but if you'd like to see a release of crafting before a release a beta version of the adventure, vote that, if you'd like to see the beta version of the adventure before I dig too much into crafting... vote for that.

View this as a non-binding referendum, but one that I will use to inform my priorities :D

I sort of suspect how this poll will go, but I want to see what patrons actually think before just assuming.

The main reason for the poll is that the Adventure was a promised reward; I still plan to do it eventually, and I've written part of it, but I felt that maybe I should table that to work on Crafting again. But given that it was a reward/goal, I didn't really want to table it without a clear opinion of the patrons (the people to whom it was a goal for) voting that way. So far it looks like (as I sort of expected) people would rather see a crack at crafting. I just want to keep people involved in the decision making, as that's also part of promise of the patron - giving people more say what I work on :) All of it is something I want to write; I work on D&D stuff because I enjoy doing . Part of the deal with the Adventure was that I'd set aside extra time beyond my normal time to work on that. If the poll is in favor of crafting, I'll use that time to work on Crafting for now instead (or at least as a priority for the time being :) )

My heart says that it should be what you want to work on but my brain is screaming for a good crafting system. I've talked about it a lot with my dnd group and the main thing we end up disagreeing on is how to do it without burdening the dm with side quests for cool crafting materials or burdening players with the need for gold sinks. It isn't fun to see however much gold you have then burning it all for a +1d4 fire damage on a weapon or something similar. Kinda wanna see how your system would handle that.

Crafting is, in my opinion, almost too big a project for a Homebrewer, which is why I've been hesitant to commit to it too much. I have a system I use in my games, but it takes a lot of DM input - the task here is to make a system that's robust enough that (while working together) a DM can largely give it to the player, while giving the DM certainly levers for the input into the system. A system where both the player and the DM own important elements of it is, I think, the key to making a working crafting system. The player has to largely control what they can and want to make, but the DM has to have enough levers to know that it won't break the world, campaign, and economy, and what will break those varies between games. It's a tricky one, that's for sure, but I've become more convinced that 5e sort of needs one seeing all the conversations around the Artificer, because as i always say... the Artificer is *not* a crafting a system. It's a class. I don't think the Artificer should be a crafting system. I think an Artificer should be a good crafting, but I don't think it should be an exclusive domain to it, and I don't think class balance and crafting should be that tightly intertwined. Anyway, that's my ramble on it, and where my head is at when I put up this poll :)
