Preview: A Few Fighters (Tech Knight and Psionic Warrior Return)
Added 2021-02-21 10:09:52 +0000 UTCThese are preview versions of these subclasses that are going out for playtesting. If you'd like to playtest them or just read them and share your thoughts, I'd be happy to see what you think.
Tech Knight has been fairly heavily revamped, giving it a tight focus on the weapons as giving them more cool things to do with them. They are more engines of war and thematically close to Fighter, as well as being more unique from Eldritch Knight compared to the last iteration.
Psionic Warrior went back to the drawing board, but honestly came back not as different as I was expecting. I've reformatted the powers, changed and buffed, tweaked some others. In general, they will be more powerful, and have somewhat more emphasis to their Fighter integration and being more brutal combatant, using their Psionics in an aggressive fashion, if lacking the granularity of a Psion, these are more tuned to their needs and limited Psi Points.

We'll see a trickle of 1-2 subclasses a week going out for testing, and I'll keep you folks in the loop. Once we have the full roster I'll collect them together.
PS: I'm willing to rename either of them. If you have a good suggestion for a name, let me know. Right now I don't think either name is particularly inspired, but they are serviceable and descriptive. Subclass names shouldn't be particularly esoteric, but could be a bit more evocative than these are.
All the best and hope you folks are having great D&D games out there,

For Psi Warrior, it says 'one power per attack', but none of the powers seem to key off of attacks, they cost an action or a bonus action. Is that supposed to be one power per turn? And do you be spend 1 psi point in order to use them? It isn't explicitly stated, just a mention that powers are fueled by them.

2021-02-22 06:58:51 +0000 UTCAm I missing something? The Tech Knight says you get a weapon and a gadget, but doesn't explain what the gadget is. Also, the repeating crossbows ability is just a weaker version of Crossbow Expert. And if you're a fighter doing hand crossbows, there's no real reason to not take that feat, which invalidates that feature completely.

2021-02-22 06:46:00 +0000 UTCFixed; Ramming Gauntlet is mostly just a renamed Power Fist; not sure if it'll share the name or not in the long run, but it may; for the time being keeping the name different in case I need to tweak it for balance. Essentially I don't want to tie to Power Fist explicitly in order to freely balance it as needed, but if it ends up the same, I will just keep the name the same.

2021-02-22 00:43:55 +0000 UTCI noticed Tech Knight has both Power Fist and Ramming Gauntlet.
