I made a video to ruin your dreams.

It's time you faced it, it's impossible for you to become "good enough" to be an artist. This video is meant to discourage you from ever trying.
You probably think, knowing me and the type of work I make, this is some sort of framing device I'm going to use to ironically attempt to motivate or inspire you. That even within this post, I'm simply committing to a bit.
No. Shut up.
Nobody wins. Ever. Letting go of the hope that we will win is truly liberating. I've seen some art that looks like really bad drawing but which nevertheless managed to perfectly communicate the intent of the artist. Picasso, otoh, seems to me to be masturbating with paint. (that's just my very biased opinion.)

Alright, take my damn money already. And while you're at it, get out of my head!

I had no idea what an oni moose looked like - I just didn't want to give my name and made a pun instead. Now I know what an oni moose looks like. Thank you comrade slime

Lol, I have aphantasia, which makes it even more pathetic to me to hear them whining about how it's impossible

All "fulltime" artists I know, grants and international travel and residencies and gallery shows also have a job (that one could also see as "fulltime") that pays the rent.
There are definitely people who do it only, and a smaller percentage of those still who don't have fam/trust funds to rely on for expenses and health, but doing what you don't love to do what you love is nothing to feel ashamed about!
There's a lot of hard work you do in between the other hard work!

The Basilisk story is a campfire spookums written by and for the benefit of literal billionaires.
The scariest thing is mostly how nonsensical it all is and people at least pretend to take it seriously.

Gahhhhd.
Have any of you encountered a certain type of bro-tist which is nearly religious in zeal about AI, where they talk about "Big Artist" as if independent artists doing commissions are some cabal and the bro pushes how anyone who has the vaguest concerns about AI's effects society "hates people with aphantasmia" who will suddenly now be able to "be creative" and do all the things they always wanted to?
Yeah, they still don't produce shit beyond novelty LLM text (without being interesting) generic midjourney spam, or unfunny memes.
I think we'd all be appreciative if they were doing something beyond griping at those of us who make basically anything and continuing to create nothing, even with AI carrying every bit of the load for them every step of the way.
MILLIONS of human hours of skill and knowledge and they still fail to produce anything for all the promise. Unsurprisingly these bros were big into NFTs/Tokenomics for their self-esteem right up until that market crashed.

Hey, some of us are disgusting corporate sell-outs AND we make deeply embarrassing art during our free time. That's... I mean... It's something, right?

Second time I've been duped. Oh well, this was WAY less scary than the Roko's Obelisk thing. Thanks!

I found the point about "real art" being defined as paid work, and what this would say about Van Gogh, particularly striking.
