Sengoku Basara: The Bonkers Brilliance Of Capcom's Forgotten Hack n' Slash (The Jimquisition)

Did you know Capcom's answer to Dynasty Warriors was utterly bananas? Like, completely unhinged stuff? It was also brilliant, in its own cracked way. Looking back nearly 15 years into the past, we take a look at the amazing nonsense of Sengoku Basara!

It was, indeed, a good video, that. I mostly watch comedic reviews/video essays/that type of thing on YouTube and it's been a good while since one's gotten so many belly laughs per minute from me. The lead-up to and delivery of "Frankenstein's Gundam," popped me harder than a balloon from Popeye's Extra-Hard Popping Balloons™. Also, I now want to play a Sengoku Basara game so, so much. I got to FromSoft and Elden Ring much later than most and I've absolutely adored it; it might be the best (though not quite my favourite) game I've ever played. ...but I've beaten Hourah-Loux, I've beaten Radagon and the Elden Beast, I somehow utterly steam-rolled Malenia not long after my fiftieth or so attempt to kill that friggin' Spirit-Calling Snail succeeded for an Amulet that lost its slot in my loadout the same damn day. I'm in the DLC and... I'm tired. I know getting stabbed in the soul by side quests is par for the course in these games but it's still draining. What I wouldn't give for something even madder than DW to just be a laugh so I can go back to Elden Ring a bit down the line, ready to love it as much as its earned again.
