The Literal Doom Of Derivative AI (The Jimquisition)

Google researchers had their AI "make" a Doom level, and now they're claiming they have a game engine. It is arrogant nonsense, and it only proves how desperate they are to take jobs away from every type of creator they can.

It's particularly offensive to do this with Doom, since making maps for that game is a particular art form, and individual creators are regarded very highly. To traipse into their scene and claim you can do it automatically is just... it's just disgusting.

Theoretical post-labor UBI has problems too. Many people will go mad without employment. And good luck trying to explain why they should rejoice in their dole and take up hobbies and part-time temp jobs. Maggie Thatcher did a more stingy version of that to mining jobs and they (rightfully) curse her name to this day.

Go off comrade, you speak for the workers whose voices have been stolen. Personally I would like to see generative algorithmic products required to provide a full set of licenses for all of their training data or they get taken from their current owners and given back to those who were robbed. Fucked if I know what they would actually do with it, but they are creatives. I'm sure they'd find something worthwhile even if it was just a massive fire making a statement.

The visual metaphors are glorious!
