I wonder what Klaus' fascination with Stefan being the ripper is about? Alaric and Damon, the best friends, the ultimate duo of the Vampire Diaries and drinking buddies.

I know this is something that is easily lost because there was so much happening in this episode, and it's something I only noticed now (my 3rd time watching). Katherine walking into the house to save Damon confirmed that Elena's death removed the protection the house had where vampires couldn't enter a home owned by a living person. Her death severed that connection, even though she returned to life, much like Buffy's approximately 2-minute death triggered the awakening of a second Slayer.
