I mean there's a reason why Yamato Nadeshiko is THE ideal Japanese wife template, no? Bro found one like that, and was unwilling to downgrade from the ideal standards of Yamato Nadeshiko, simple as

The vast majority of SAO haters are people who 1. never watched one second of the anime but parrot these creators; or 2. loved S1 of the anime until these creators told them to hate it. Now, as someone who was extremely absorbed in the SAO series in the early 2020s - watched the anime numerous times, own digital copies of the LN, and have read many of the unpublished canonical side works - yes, there are many legitimate complaints about the series... and I have my own complaints as well. Yours - the pacing of S1 - is one of them... although I'm not sure what the anime producers really could have done about that - that's all that really existed of the Aincrad arc at the time of the anime production. For instance, vol 1 of the LN series starts with the first day of the game up through Kirito leaving Klein in the Town of Beginnings... and then skips all the way to Floor 74. Episode 2 itself was origianlly an anime-only episode written specifically because the anime producers wanted to show the Floor 1 boss being defeated. It would eventually become a canonical short story called Aria of a Starless Night, and later become the basis of the Progressive series and become part of volume 1 - Aria of a Starless Night. Later, it would get its own moive, etc. The rest of S1 that is bookended by the two halves of vol 1 are short stories from vols 2, 4, and 8. So to me, it's less a pacing issue and more the fact that the Aincrad arc was a disorganized mess to begin with. However, my major complaint is the author - Reki Kawahara - doesn't respect the canon he's established and retcons things at the drop of a hat simply because it's convenient and/or because the anime did something different. For instance... what if I told you that in vol 1 of the SAO series Asuna and Kirito never "personally met" until Floor 74? To be fair in this situation, vol 1 of SAO was submitted for and won the Dengeki Bunko prize and rules of the contest stated the story could only be so long and had to be a "closed story" (no continuations), so the book was written under tight constraints before it was ever going to be serialized, and as more and more of Aincrad was fleshed out, Asuna and Kirito met earlier and earlier until Aria of a Starless Night was written and had met each other on Floor 1. My biggest complaint, though, is Ordinal Scale introduced something into the Alicization anime that was never part of the LN series (I'm fine with that part)... but when Kawahara started writing the Unital Ring arc, it was included with no formal introduction, as if it was always there. That means you cannot read the SAO LN series without being knowledgable of what happens in the anime, and to me that's bass-ackwards - the author should not be treating his canon like that.

2025-10-25 16:36:21 +0000 UTCIn Germany there are over 3200 types of Bread, I think Joe would be happy here xD But yeah, I think SAO is pretty enjoyabe. It has some nice and cool moments and overall and is pretty interesting. I guess the reason why many people hated on SAO is because Season 1 feels pretty rushed. There are 100 Floors to beat and after Ep 5 they are already cleared 59 Floors, that we know of. So they might be a bit higher than that. Like after Ep 3 they were already at around 30-40 floors cleared? Because I often see people say "Episode 1 and 2 is really good... and after that it sucks". Which is the moment where they have many and big time skips.
