Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

We hope you enjoy the video!

The Belter that stopped Prax knew he was a Belter because when Prax first woke up he asked if there were any children and got ignored until he repeated in Belter creole.

Yeah, the scene on the freighter was so tragic and sad. I didn't get any real malice out of it, just blunt belter practicality. They've lives their lives with precious little, and then Mars & UN go and destroy their food supply in one of their skirmishes? Who's to say they won't have a battle over ceres, or tycho, or another belter station next time as well? They have to sustain themselves. It's definitely a cold-blooded move to space the inner refugees, but the flat, matter-of-fact way the guy said "Inners wreck Ganymede...belter lives first from now on" rang as resigned to me. An act the captain saw as a necessary evil, and he wasn't going to beat himself up about it when it was their governments that put them in this situation. Now, people can argue on whether that's a justified action, or whether the guy should feel more guilt than he does, but at the end of the day, push comes to shove, many people revert to tribalism, no matter your class or experience (we've seen Chrisjen champion tribalism thus far in the series, for example, with "Earth must come first").

Amos doesn't think he had the same procedure as Cortazar. Amos was interested in the procedure because he wanted to know if it was reversible, as he recognizes that he himself has sociopathic tendencies that he doesn't want to have. Now the reason Amos is acting like this is because of his encounter with the kid in a previous episode. It triggered something from his past. He had some particular experiences in his past which we will learn more about and in the future, and have heard bits and pieces of already. Recall his knowledge of how pedophiles behave when telling Holden how to get to Cortazar. And mentioning to Alex in season 1 that he grew up in a brothel.

Isn't earth known as The Blue Planet?

Lyn Hurst

She has gotten better. I did notice tonight but it was happening more frequently before reactions that make her nervous like in Dark and Breaking Bad probably others, first ones that came to mind.

I am having trouble following this show. I think it is interesting, but I usually watch this after The Walking Dead and sometimes late in the evening. I am sometimes thrashed after TWD. I think I need to split this up and watch it another night. I usually don't want to watch TWD right before bed. I lost completely why Amos may think he had the same procedure as Cortazar.

Lyn Hurst

Another great reaction. Drummer executing those 2 guys at the end with precision while she's stumbling out with a gunshot wound is just so badass.

To be fair, I think his full name Praxideke showed up just twice, both briefly, amongst chaos. I don’t know much about Greek names and whether that should be an obvious reference to Greek ancestry, but there was so much going on in the background (questions about whether his daughter is dead or alive, a coup attempt on Tycho) that even if this was obviously Greek it just showed up twice and was easy to miss. Also the character has strong East Asian features so whenever he is on screen, there is no reason to think he has Greek ancestry. As we know the Belters, just from language alone, represent a huge mix of so many races and ethnicities from Earth.

This is one of many reasons I have grown to love reaction channels and subscribe to a few. I’ve watched the Expanse twice (and read the books), but not until now did I pick up on the fact that the “waving person” Gunny saw was Prax’s daughter Mei.

Love for Amos and for Drummer! Love how Drummer was so clinical executing her captors! Those idiots deserved it!

Disagree about that read of Dawes. Dawes' ideology is a fair and earnest one, he's just a little closer to actually understanding the "necessary" politics than a lot of belter leadership is used to. He's not Fidel, he just has a different vision of the path to belter strength and independence than a lot of people (that are and aren't belters) might be comfortable with. I don't believe for one second that Dawes is an evil man, or that he doesn't prioritize belter unification, strength, and prosperity (especially compared to certain other key characters across the story of The Expanse). I won't have a book discussion, but lets put it this way. Dawes gets a lot more time to represent himself and the belt in the novels (meaning, you probably wouldn't feel the way you do up there ^ about book Dawes), and for what it's worth, the show-version of Dawes *is* kept by and large in the same lane - It's basically the same guy, you just get a better feel for him and his route in the novels. They didn't change his politics or much of his behavior in the show, you just don't get to see as much of his chess.

I'm surprised these two didn't notice/comment when they saw the fullscreen ID of the botanist having a distinctly Greek name in "Praxideke", hah!! It stood out to me, personally. Makes you wonder about the character's backgrounds. Somewhere, perhaps a Greek family member of Prax exists (or existed), and cherished that heritage enough to give him such a distinct name. I like thinking about these "off-screen" potentials in their personal histories. It makes the melting pot of humanity's future feel precious, emotional, connected.

Trepanation21

I think of Dawes as a Fidel Castro type of leader. Maybe inspires and sounds real good but in reality is real bad fucking news. The procedure that Cortazar had done removes empathy, not emotion. I had the same thought about Amos maybe having had that procedure but I think the encounter with the kid fucked him up and maybe some bad news also so he tried to drink it away. By the end of this season, you’ll learn more about Amos‘s childhood.

I love that you guys have been doing Youtube for awhile now, but Pudgy still starts laughing while doing the "if you are following over on Youtube" bit. Its more rare if she doesn't laugh while doing it lmao

Ryan

Love this episode solely for the intro of Prax and his daughter and the belter rebellion moment on Tycho, when you get to see just what kind of person Fred’s right hand gal is. Her name is Drummer but dont worry, you won’t have any trouble remembering her name 😄 Love these little glimpses we get early on into Amos and his story. He really is one of the most intriguing characters ever put to screen. Cannot wait till the next one! One of the best!!

AnastasiyaK

I love the banter between you two, always hilarious. Also, I love Prax's actor, Terry Chen, (the Botanist). When he learned of Mei's possible fate, his anguish and grief felt so real. I don't have children yet, but it makes it so easy to empathize with his situation, and his desire to go back. Amos sure is right, it's a good reason to tag along lol.

Spartan nailed it! Prax's daughter (Mei) is the person you see waving through the dome at Gunny and her team on Ganymede. After that she went to the clinic in Sector four and everything went to shit. Good spot guys, most people miss it. Such a minor detail and not really important to the plot, but loaded with emotional meaning. A Belter child happily waving to a Martian patrol, before Martians in orbit destroy the mirror, which kills so many Belters on the surface. nb. The "station" the Rocinate is heading to is Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter. Its actually the largest moon in the solar system, but low gravity because of its low density. Earh and Mars co-administer the Agricultural domes on it, which are staffed by Belters. And yes, there is a lot more to be learned about Amos, one of the most amazing character arcs on The Expanse. Great reaction, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the rest as the craziness ramps up!

Lindsay Mathieson

Cant wait til you guys find out more about Amos and Lydia

Peter Shim

Camina Drummer is HER! Amos started acting like that after he scared that kid the previous episode. Naomi was looking at moving the missile with the protomolecule. She was afraid Cortazar's Shout was it.

Golladan

Nah that blue light seen on Earth in the opening is just light.

Golladan

Been waiting for this episode. It's pretty much balls to the wall for the rest of the season at this point. We also have some great moments I'm looking forward to seeing again.
