He is distraught and she comforts him, they end up having sex. She then is pregnant. He believes he has dishonourd her and that is his moral duty to marry her. He is naive because he believes everyone will understand, but he has more reason than just romance.

In this case Sam, Grenn and Ed were looking for burning material and a scout near them spotted the White Walkers.
