Well in the books Mance is still alive thank's to Melisandre's deception. So he still has a greater role to play. But it's one of these plotline they didn't follow in the show

2026-01-19 14:07:57 +0000 UTCI think the wording in the Baelish-Sansa scene is important: She‘d realized that their travel direction to begin with was westbound in contrast to the way to the Fingers, his home (which would be north, I think? Not sure.). But then when they are about their destination, he just said „to a place so far from here…“, not „to a place so far west from here“. ;-)
