The patriarch reprimands his son for attacking Ned in the streets and explains how important it is to free Tyrion from the Eyrie: `Every day that he remains a prisoner, the less our name commands respect'.

I feel like it's not really touched on in the show here in S1 but Viserys is mad. Remember that they call Dany and Visery's father "The Mad King". Madness runs in the Targaryen bloodline. GRRM doesn't make it clear if it's from the inbreeding or the dragon magic in their blood or both. But a common saying in the books is that madness and greatness both exist in the Targaryen bloodline and when a new Targaryen is born the gods flip a coin and world holds its breath to see how it will land. So, yeah Viserys was coocoo not stupid. And it was a gradual slide into madness for both him and his Dad. They both started out fairly normal. Also, if you guys go back to episode 5, it was brought up at the Small Council meeting that Ser Jorah Mormont has been informing on Dany and Viserys to Lord Varys to get a royal pardon. He told them Dany was pregnant.

So many more twists and turns over the seasons to come yet this first season isn't over yet. I can't wait for the future reactions.
