Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. Really well stated! It’s funny because I was actually thinking about Syril’s character earlier today and my thought was, “it is easy to dislike him or even enjoy his weakness because he starts off as the antithesis to our hero. However, a lot of what he shows us is just how he is broken and unable to be the heroic man he so desperately wants to be.” It’s the intense insecurity mixed with an unearned pride that makes it easy to recognize him as pathetic and feel less empathy for him. As far as the last paragraph goes, I would say people can be both humble and confident. I think humbleness is the antithesis of arrogance, not confidence. But maybe that isn’t supported by the actual definitions of the words. Confidence to me is knowing one’s value, which doesn’t require demanding more or tolerating less.

Ah, thank you for the braid clarification and the timeline info, always helpful to know when/where we are in things and anchoring it to something we’ve already seen really helps 🙏

Episode 1: So when you mentioned the cutting the braid and the removing from the jedi order. That's not entirely true, it is all depending on circumstances. There is a ceremony that involves cutting the braid (as seen in the 2d version of clone wars where Anakin was promoted to knight) then there is the other version (ahsoka in clone wars when she was expelled) Episode 2: The spiders that Syril have are dead spiders. Yeah Saw has his own rebels that follow him. The writers that do write this show i give massive props to one PTSD with soldiers. Cassian is paranoid (with good reasoning they are in enemy territory. There are people who are actively looking for him with his major role of finding luthen.), a soldier who is always one guard. Bix is more like a retired soldier that witnessed things and is mentally scarred but puts on a mask to show she is doing alright. But she's also in constant fear of the doctor finding her and torturing her friends. As for timeline wise this arc is happening during season 2 of rebels. Just so you are aware what is happening during this timeline.

I'm pretty sure the conformity that you attributed to being of the empire that the daughter and her friends were practicing were actually Chandrilan "old customs". I feel that a lot of people give Mon Mothma too much credit. Don't get me wrong sure she is a great character, but for example I feel the daughter was completely justified during their talk right before the wedding and sure she might be loving the attention but that does not mean she wants to be wed. This was a wedding Mon set up and only seconds before did she voice her regret and explained why she did (not the whole truth ofc). She had ample opportunity to speak about this with her daughter beforehand (And to be fair she is still just a child). This might be totally wrong but to me it seems like Mon never was to involved with her daughter and that might be because of a lot of different reasons such as her being a senator and always working or it might just be the daughters teenage defiance. Also when It comes to Syril, I don't condone his thoughts about the empire nor his actions for it and his creepy stalking of Dedra in season 1. But to me he just feels broken. Sure it's easy too look down upon him and call him weak but that's from your totally different upbringing and circumstances, put in his shoes with how he was raised "In the bleak reality that is f-ing Coruscant" with a mother like that ofc you would be broken and have troubles with self esteem. A lot of people find confidence to be attractive or that it shows someone's strength or their "worth" and for me that is sometimes true but it feels most people get blinded by what really is just arrogance blended with confidence. I guess In the end it might just come down to preference but I find humble people are much more attractive than confident people. Its okay to acknowledge your weaknesses and not put your strengths on display all the time (And for most scenarios and people putting their "strength's" out for show is a lot of what they do even if they don't realize it). In the end I just feel sad for Syril but feel he is a great addition to the show.
