Today's mermaid took longer to do than I expected, actually, I knew it was going to take long since I wanted to paint a city ๐I had this idea of imagining the coral reef as a small quaint town. I was inspired by the streets of Italy. Looking at reference photos made me miss traveling!
I created this on my Procreated then transferred it to my Cintiq and used photoshop to paint this piece! The brushes I used on my Procreate are my custom brushes but for Photoshop I used Lynn Chen's brushes.
I find that when I'm making environments and require lighting adjustments, I usually transfer my procreate sketch to Photoshop. It's just a lot easier for me to make these quick adjustments since I have more adjustment layers to play around with. The lines you see in the second last slide are perspective lines.
