It looks like native push notifications was preferred most, with StableSwarm being a close second.
We've started on the notifications feature and it should be ready soon in time for v2.8.0-pre.4, which should be the last prerelease before v2.8.0! We're also working on improvements for dependency installs which should make StableSwarm easier to implement early in v2.9.0.
