There's unique frustration to a writer where you want to work on this or that, but there's one project that seizes you and you're just kinda exclusively that for a while. It's good to be getting any writing done, of course, but sometimes it'd be nice to get the last thousand words of something done instead of writing nine thousand words in the middle of something else.

Anyway, I've written almost forty thousand words of Trophy. It still needs fleshing out, because at this point it's very crime, penetration, crime, penetration, but I think in a draft or two, it's really going to be something.

I'm also considering Wedding of the Century and how I might draft that around. I think it could be that the 'date' is too much for this late in the game and it would work better earlier in the narrative, to put Peter and MJ at loggerheads. But then, I also have a second draft idea where there would be a kidnapping plot, which would take over the narrative a little before the date. I have this great plot twist in mind for an added subplot, but still, that works out to be about 30,000 words of preamble, and I don't know if that's quite right for both a first and second act. Most books are minimum 60,000 words, so half of it being third act feels a little weird. I don't know, I have a lot of ideas.

I thought up this whole prologue to explain how these alternate Peter and Mary Janes could meet, but then I thought, ay, actually, we could just keep going from there and never really tie into preexisting material. It would entirely be a rescue romance that turns into a "we have to save the world!" thriller and it never settles down into "okay, we're going on a date now." Aside from, you know, some quiet moments between the action where they have time to bond.
