My hand is healing but now my computer is dying + An art question for you.
Added 2025-03-23 17:25:07 +0000 UTCI've been having a string of bad luck :(
For the past 6 years I've been using a EVOO laptop for all of my work, arranged into a 3 monitor setup. And yesterday after paying off a different expense, I came back to desk to find that the built in keyboard is dying, with keys such as the comma key, the up arrow, and several others no longer working. And for those of you who know laptops, the keyboard is actually the hardest thing to service because quite literally everything is installed before it.
I have a spare keyboard that I'm using now, but the plan was originally to finance a new PC throughout this year and make the purchase in October, not now. And it feels extra galling because this particular PC was the first system that I bought and financed myself. Its dumb to think that it would have lasted forever, but this is still tearing because all of the artwork I've produced since 2019 was done on this computer.
And if that wasn't bad enough, this just so happened to happen when I'm healing from my hand injury and unable to draw.
A replacement looking to set us back 800usd, but good news, after panicking all day we've managed to sure up 400 dollars, so we're already halfway there. My birthday is on the 26th so I've gotten somewhat lucky in being able to lean on my family for some emergency gift funds.

Edit: here are specs we're aiming for if those computer savvy are willing to offer any advice
My current computer was a laptop being used as a desktop. But I'm willing to switch over to a tower at any time. Prebuilts are okay.
The only hiccup is that the computer would need to support a 3 monitor setup. With a laptop's native display and its two video-outs, that was easy. I'm currently using 2 DisplayPorts, but HDMI is fine too.
All specs need to be equal or greater:
Processor: i7-9750H 2.60GHz (I'm not married to intel or i7, if AMD works better then that's fine)
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 512GB SSD
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660Ti (literally anything better. I don't need a 5090 or any of the fire hazards on the market these days, but it has to be able to handle 3D software like Blender and Godot for my work) (And I'm also not married to Nvidia, if AMD works better than its fine)
OS: Windows
We're trying to target something around 800 us dollars

I now have an art question for you. Currently I'm writing because its the one thing I'm still fit to do, but eventually I'll have to test the waters if I'm to start drawing again.
As you would expect, I'm majorly pent up after having been shelved this way. And I know while I have my goto favorites (things that really really only arouse me) my impatience is your impatience too. Would it be unfair to all if, after being forced to wait on me to heal, you're then forced to wait even longer as I practice my hand more selfish things geared toward myself this upcoming week?
I know how these things often work, I've had this Patreon for about 7 or 8 years now and have seen over and over again that its never good to keep people waiting. Its not my intention to leave people bored and disappointed. I'd rather have you yell at me in the comments then just wholesale ghost me. I want you to feel satisfied by me. I don't like to be the eBegging woe-is-me artist who takes and takes without giving something back in return.
Please tell me your thoughts on all of this in the comments.

It is what it is. No sense in making things harder on yourself when you're down.

2025-03-24 07:12:20 +0000 UTCI feel like you drawing what you want is going to result in more art for the patreon, which seems like a good deal, at least to get back into your groove! So yeah I'd say go for it
