Jinshi doen’t know he’s the emperor son, he thinks he’s his brother, so he thinks the empress mother is his mother. The old man in the dream was the previous emperor, who jinshi thinks is his father, and the old woman is the previous emperor’s mother, who jinshi thinks is his grandmother. He said it himself when he woke up. It’s unclear if the current emperor knows Jinshi is his son or if he too thinks he’s his brother.

Based on the theory that the Emperor is actually Jinshi’s father and the story that was told the Emperor was probably 14-16 when Jinshi was conceived. Making the Emperor around 32-35 years of age. The Emperor’s mother - the Empress Dowager - was quite young when the Emperor was conceived which I’m guessing would have been between 11-13 years old making her about 43-48 years old. Honestly the way the Empress Dowager is drawn she looks like she’s in her 30s so I’d have to say she’s more likely to be in her early 40s with good genes and makeup.
