Long before the latest movie came out, Ian and I were reading Dune as a couple/ This was my interpretation of Lady Jessica in the book.

King Ollie Character Construction

Much like the last construction sheet, this one goes over the general build for King Ollie. He has a lot more character here than some of my sketchier drawings. I like his devious face in the middle the most.

Disney Sketches

These sketches were done very quickly from reference with a brush pen. 

T Rex Sketch

I was trying to re-imagine the T Rex based on new information we have about dinosaurs having feathers. I also tried to think of them as a lot meatier instead of the skeletal figures we see in movies.

Another Dali Detail Sketch

This was probably sketches in about 5 minutes. Super rough.

This was rushed in only a few minutes because I was with my sister in law and she was rushing from painting to painting and wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.

RIP Tweeker

This was the comic I made when Tweeker died. He had been losing weight and drinking mounds of water. He knew it was his time and went out into the field in front of our house to let the vultures have him. He gave himself a sky burial.

King Ollie Character Sheet

Ollie is fun to draw, and it took a lot of versions before I finally found the character face I was looking for. His eyes are a little too dark here as I think I'll make them more yellow and less orange, but I'm pleased with the general result.

Tweeker, sleeping

I drew a lot of images of Captain T, but very few of Tweeker, his inspiration. This is one of those.

Ollie Dreaming

More Ollie Poses. Chuck was a room mate Ian had before I moved in with him that Ollie LOVED. When he moved away, Ollie was visibly sad for a time. The other dream is him in ancient times.

Cats and Calligraphy

Here's another Ollie pose. I misspelled "Calligraphy," something terrible on this page. Look at it. Try to read that mess. Damn you, dyslexia! This is also done in brushpen.

Street Cat

Just a random sketch of a cat. This is done in brush pen, no pencil.

Batman, the cat

Batman was our room mate's cat out in California before moving to Colorado. He recently died as of 2 months ago, so he had a pretty good run (I think he was 15 when he passed). The cat wanted you to watch him eat.

Ollie and Ariel

Ollie really did have the best sleeping poses. And Ariel is fun to draw.

Naughtypants evolved into Captain T as I folded her world into his.

Tooth and Claw ended up being "spec work," for "exposure," and (most importantly) no pay. I'm sorry, but a girl needs to eat. So scrap that.

Captain T Character Construction

When you draw your own character it's easy to remember what your character looks like, but if you ever hand your character off to other artists, you have to make sure they know how to draw what you've created. So, construction sheets are sometimes created to show the general proportions to others. You'll notice that T is a 3-fringered character....

Ollie in Pose

This page got a little beat up from my bag with the opposite page rubbing on it, but you can still see some good sketches of the Ollie cat. He always had these amazing sleep poses.

When Ollie Passed

Ollie Cat got very sick from cancer and in the end, we took him into the vet and were with him until the last moment. We buried him under Pike's Peak here in Colorado. This is Tweeker greeting him at the pearly gates.

(I'm not crying, you're crying!)

Early Sketch of Captain T

This was an early sketch of the good captain. He has a belt, claws, and buttons which I removed from the final version. His sword is also a lot simpler than what you see here.

Early Sketch of Sargent

This was a very early sketch of Sargent before I really knew how I wanted to draw him. His head ended up a lot bigger while he ended up a lot smaller overall.

Captain T Character Sheet

This is a marker-color character sheet I made when I finalized the design for Captain T. His faces at the bottom are a little off model in some places, but I'm overall pleased with the progress.

This was a quick sketch from life of a sculpture Dali did called Venus De Milo with Drawers that was on display at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. I didn't have much time with the piece.
