I score it using a Dremel sanding drum but you can use sandpaper as well. Gives a much more secure hold no matter what part you’re gluing down (claws etc). Sand them all! 😄

After gluing and trimming, I am handsewing the fur down to the foot before I attach the parade sole. It's not strictly needed but it is always good to make *extra* sure that something won't come loose in the future with time & wear.
