Winter Games of Pin Valley, Spiti
The Dachang games of #Pin #Valley.
Episode #3 is now on YouTube. I don't think this will be as interesting as the previous 2 episodes. But the story needed to be told nonetheless.

Took a long time to make this one. Was in kind of a funk ever since I reached Manali 3 weeks back. Hopefully this breaks the funk and I'll be more productive with my videos going forward.
I'm off to Kinnaur right now to have a Shepherd's Reunion!
Finally gotten around to telling the story I've been meaning to tell for the last couple of years. The story of Todnam. The little village with a big heart.

2019-04-07 17:04:56 +0000 UTC View PostReligion plays an important role in the lives of the Changpas. They are devout buddhists, all of them. But while Buddhism preaches non-violence towards all living creatures, the Changpas raise their animals to be killed and sold off for meat.
So their lives are bit of a paradox and in this episode we will see how the Changpas try and bal...
This episode we get to understand the life of the Changpas. The semi-nomadic tribe of shepherds and yak herders living in Changthang. The high altitude plains of Ladakh and Tibet.

I just uploaded the first episode of my new series. Living with the Changpas.
I spent 3 weeks living with the Changpa shepherds this winter. Changpas are a semi nomadic tribe who live in the high altitude Northern plains of Tibet and China. I was always fascinated with them and decided to make a video series about thei...
I returned to Leh last evening after spending 20 days with the Changpa nomads at the Tsokar lake. Stay tuned for a new video series about the Changpas.
There were a lot of messages to catch up on after 20 days in the wild. And I was pleasantly surprised to find that my film 'A Shepherd's Journey' had received the Sierra Nevada Award at th...
Hopefully this sets the benchmark for future videos. Please turn on subtitles if your hindi is not good, like mine.

2018-11-05 13:25:39 +0000 UTC View PostEvery year, for 5 days in September, the people of Nesang lock up their homes and go to the mountains to celebrate their Fulaich festival. Five days of music and dancing. More fun than I have ever seen in any festival before. This is my humble attempt to document the festival. My tribute to the lovely people of Nesang who make me feel at home ever...

Sorry for no new videos in the recent past. I was in Pin Valley documenting their Pea Harvest. I returned to Rekong Peo a few days back meaning to upload the video. But unfortunately couldn't do that owing to a bad cold and fever. I'm on the way back to Pin Valley now. Planning to walk with the Gaddi shepherds once again across the Rupi - Khamba p...
