I'm not sure how this happened but the pencils data for this page has been lost. The page file still exists but there's no pencils. I have no idea how this happened. Sorry, completists.

Re-introducing Theophilus, mass-murderer extraordinaire and Hugo's long-lost alter-ego.

Showing the growing friendship between Eithne and Ralf

As someone said, a nice, clean, TV-friendly shooting.

Featuring the amazing disappearing ratchet wrench. I meant to show her dropping it when she tripped on the WorkBee unit in the airlock (third panel), but forgot.

Meanwhile, back at the Ha'arrokk ... somebody forgot to lock the door.

Dear Patrons,
While I managed to keep up with the Quantum Vibe posting schedule on the main website during and after Hurricane Harvey, the art postings for the $2.50-plus Patrons has fallen completely off track, and for that I apologize.
Where I live we had water high enough to flood my car, although thankfully not my house. A lot of peopl...
2017-09-16 17:27:17 +0000 UTC View PostIt's not a proper Space Bazaar without some bazaar characters.

It's not who you know, it's what you know. And vice versa.

Don't you hate that boss that is constantly hanging around watching you work?

Eithne takes the initiative, rather to Ralf's chagrin.

Challenge here is designing alien characters that are anthropomorphic enough to be relatable but also weird enough to be otherworldly. Sort of.

Eithne gets disguised as a space-warthog. Inks below:

Really stretching my imagine-3D-structure brain muscles. Inks are below:

I think I've got this Warp Drive effect down now.
2017-08-18 22:19:38 +0000 UTC View PostGetting comfortable in the cruiser. In this sequence I had to really think hard about the layout of the cockpit and other interiors.
2017-08-18 22:18:24 +0000 UTC View PostOne trick to doing those backgrounds quickly is just set up the bare-bones in the pencil stage and add a bunch of detail in the inks. This is only possible working digitally.
I got a bit wiser and simplified the backgrounds a bit on this page. I still relied on a fair bit of copypasta.
2017-08-06 15:59:01 +0000 UTC View PostThat first panel took me the better part of a day to pencil, and that's even with a lot of copy-pasting. But I had to work out some issues with the perspective.
2017-08-05 16:59:00 +0000 UTC View PostAaand with inks and further details. Most of the details on the CUSH-zombies was added in the inking stage to save time.
2017-08-05 16:59:00 +0000 UTC View PostThat impact shot in the fourth panel looks mighty impactful, huh?
2017-08-04 16:59:01 +0000 UTC View PostIt's always a drag when the CUSH show up.
2017-08-04 16:59:01 +0000 UTC View PostThe icosphere was generated in Bender. This is about as sophisticated as I can get in Bender. You don't have to pay money to download and install Bender but it costs a lot of brain cells to learn how to use it.
2017-08-03 16:00:02 +0000 UTC View PostThe texture on the CUSH Icosphere was made by hand-drawing five of those triangles and then copy/rotate/distort/paste onto the other surfaces.
The Transwarp effect in the fourth panel was made with so much futzing around in Photoshop that I worry I won't be able to figure out how to do it again.
Murphy should've been a character in Love & Rockets.
2017-08-02 16:00:01 +0000 UTC View PostOne of Murphy's superpowers is showing up with perfect timing for a punch-line.
2017-08-02 16:00:00 +0000 UTC View PostDon't you hate it when the boss interrupts your work to complain about an errant co-worker?
