I got frustrated and made a tool that allows you to compress all textures for a specific avatar/gameobject with a single click.
Just right-click the avatar in the hierarchy -> Echo -> Texture Tool -> Enable Crunched for All.
Allows you to change texture resolution, compression and compression type.
