FAQ’s (Medical Student Mod) - V2

Hi, all

I’m glad so many of you are enjoying version 2 of the medical student career so far! The reception towards it has been great and I appreciate you guys’ support and kind words! I know a few of you had issues, but we were able to get things solved for the most part!

This message is more so for those who may run into these issues in the future and to address questions that may be common. I feel like it’s better to do this to avoid repeating myself. The solutions given here, were able to solve the issues so far. So if you have a problem in the future, I might direct you back to this post first before troubleshooting further. I recommend you take a look at this before downloading the mod.

FAQ’s

Q: The medical school venue is not showing up for me. What’s wrong?

A: If you are using Basemental's venue list, you most likely do not have the latest version. PLEASE grab that version) Any other version of the venue list will cause the venue type NOT to show up. If you are using Zerbu’s custom venue, also make sure you have the most updated version. Or, something in your mods folder may be conflicting with it. You cannot use TWO custom venue mods at a time. Either choose Basemental’s or Zerbu’s.

Q: I’m not seeing the medical student career? What’s wrong?

A: You may still have parts of the old version in your game. Delete ALL parts of the old version. Search your mods folder even and delete before downloading version 2. You may be missing a required mod.

Other potential solutions:

4.) It is a random glitch/ bug on EA’s end.

5.) Delete localthumcache.

6) reset your mods folder.

Q: I am not able to follow my Sim to medical school.

A: Do you have Enable Follow Messages toggled on? Have you actually placed your medical school down yet? If you have not, the game will not know where to direct your Sim to, hence you will get no message to follow your Sim to school. Do you have the correct version of the Mod? (VERSION 2 is the active career). Also, you may still have parts of the old version in your game. Delete ALL parts of the old version. Search your mods folder and delete. Make sure you select MEDICAL SCHOOL and not Medical Clinic!!

Other potential solutions:

Q: I can only see the medical school logo, but no text. OR I can’t see the text in my game, only bubbles.

A: Did you download the updated version of the mod? This new version fixed one or two text glitches that occurred. Now, if you’re not able to see ANY text, that’s a sign of a deeper issue. Do you have the MOST updated version of the XML Injector? Also if you are using a program that translates the mod into another language, this can be the problem.

Q: I’ve done everything but this mod doesn’t seem to work for me. What’s happening?

A: First, make sure you’ve actually done everything. I’ve had many persons say this and then they’ve realized they’ve made mistakes somewhere or didn’t read the description correctly. Which leads me to this point: make sure you’ve actually read the description. (I do t write long descriptions for fun l) A lot of persons rush through it and don’t read, and then claim to have problems. Also, make sure you actually have ALL of the required packs, mods and that you have your mods and game updated.

Other potential problem:

Q: My Sim is glitched out when they arrive to medical school (i.e. hair, skin, outfit)

A: My mod has no effect on cc, only gameplay. If you use cc scrubs or any other custom content, it does not impact gameplay. Try finding the conflict cc in your mods folder or allow your Sim to wear the scrubs they came in.

Q: Can my teen go to medical school on Version 2?

A: No, teens are only able to attend medical school in Version 1. Because it is an active career, it is only available for Young Adults- Elders.

Q: I only see 7 levels in this version. Didn’t version 1 have 9?

A: Yes, to avoid repetition, the Chief and Senior Resident levels were removed.

Other tips:

• Repairing the game sometimes helps to get rid of random bugs that may be stopping mods from working. Especially new mods. Also, I’ve noticed the game has a random glitch where sometimes mods will randomly stop working for some reason. But once you delete and reinstall they work.

• Try the 50/50 method with your mods. Isolate the mod and only try it with the other required mods.

• Deleting the localthumbcache can sometimes make the difference!

• Do not place the mod files too deep in sub-folders.

NOTE: Unfortunately, the game sometimes has random issues that even I can’t remedy. I’d this mod does not work for you despite the above solutions, I am unfortunately unable to further help. EA’s code/system isn’t always the most efficient. My mods are often tested and updated, so you don’t have to worry about that.
