I've got an angsty teenager living inside my head. It blasts 2000s NuMetal, 90's action movies, and edgy comedians from both decades. That doesn't mean however, I only enjoy comics who spout the word cunt every other joke, and John Mulaney's New in Town is a special that's always stood out to me.
His performance is meticulously detailed, relatable, and silly. He comes off as a self-aware fool who nevertheless, makes plenty of observations that are as eye-opening, as they are amusing. There's an innocence to everything, regardless of topic.
The albums great as a listen, though I'd still recommend the filmed special, as a couple jokes rely on Mulaney's expressions.
