Recommendations: Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (Season 2)

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's return with 2045 was in its first season... rough, to say the least. It got to a point when a friend proposed watching Season 2 which had just come out after we binged the entire GITS franchise, I wasn't very enthusiastic.

However, Season 2 of SAC_2045 is great, with the first four episodes being the strongest this franchise has been in over a decade. While I'm still not a fan of the 3D style, the improvements from Season 1 mean that it's no longer harming the storytelling, and the cinematography, editing, animation, is for the most part, excellent.

Definitely the biggest surprise of the year for me so far, and one as an admitted fanboy of GITS, I'm very pleased to see.

Is it worth dealing with Season 1 to get to?

If you're a Ghost in the Shell fan, definitely.

I really liked the SAC_2045 S1, even though most people didn't. Yeah, I would have liked it not to be 3D style, but I thought the main character models looked great (especially the Major) and the action was fantastic (other than naked cart-wheeling). And I really liked the story. I like the first 2 movies of the Arise series, but the rest completely looses me. I don't have that here, I found the story interesting, engaging, and easy to follow. S2 was a great improvement over S1. My only complaint is when they are shooting, the muzzle flash has really shit framerate. Found that very distracting. But overall a great series I think. And I think this series is easy for people to get into if they haven't seen anything else in the franchise.

Thanks for this recommendation, I was a fan of the original 2D series and was a bit iffy about starting this one.
