Recommendations: Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis
Added 2022-07-25 13:01:03 +0000 UTCIt's been a long time since I recommend a novel, because it's been a long time since a novel grabbed me. I've attempted many, but they're just so often bogged down in one of my biggest pet peeves of setting up the story rather than telling it.
Not so with this one.
The opening line is about a fat pathetic private detective waking up to a Rat peeing into his shoes, and it only gets weirder from there.
The writing is just uncanny with sentences that are so laced with snarky sarcasm, you almost need to reread sentences just to confirm you're not crazy, you did in-fact just read what you thought you read.
Haven't quite finished it yet, but unless the book in its final chapters kicks me in the balls, I can't imagine not recommending this.
