Akira Kurosawa, a name you've probably heard if you follow the works of Steven Spielberg or George Lucas, both were the most notable but far from the only inspired by Kurosawa's 1961 Samurai Classic, though to Westerner's like me, it'll feel like... well, a Western.
That's no mistake, as Fistful of Dollars is known to be an unofficial remake of Akira's film.
It's remarkable how much the filmmaking stands the test of time. The shots, the sets, even little moments like our lead character practicing his throwing knives. Really, the most enjoyable aspect is the lead character. Somebody who is likeable the moment he smirks at this town he's about to settle into.
