Hey everybody,
It's the end of the month, so as the final month begins, here's the current status on Metro Exodus Years Later... the yellow indicates all the footage that's been placed. It's normal for me to save development sections for later as they're often the most tedious and most disliked by Adobe's "optimization."
We're about 60-70% there.
However, despite this being the longest video I've made, this timeline isn't actually the complete project. There's three sections after "Story" that will roughly total up to another 20-30 minutes of content, and then of course there's the credits.
To say I underestimated Exodus' scope is an understatement, which is ironic, not just because of that sentence, but underestimating scale is very much a part of Metro Exodus' development.
For those curious about on why this video's taking longer aside from just duration of the video, I break it down like this...
First Month: Doing playthroughs of the game, but also very much delving into, researching, and talking to people in Ukraine, as the video's opening is quite heavy and serious, discussing why 4A Games had to open a studio in Malta.
Second Month: Writing. God this was the most frustrating script yet, as there's so much to talk about, and whenever that's the case, you always feel like you're not delving into enough detail, or that what's created is a mess rather than a coherent video.
Third Month: Narration and Editing. I'm very much considering a new microphone as much as I love the sound of this one, because the waveforms it generates mean that I have to meticulously splice the audio clips between pauses. It's beyond time consuming.
Forth Month: Here we are...
I really don't want to push this video to next year, not just so all of you can watch it, but also for the sake of my sanity. I've got several other ideas I wanna get out there, and they better be shorter than this one.
That's what I'm working on though, and as y'all are the only reason I'm able to take the time to make a project of this scale, transparency is very important. Don't at all feel guilty pulling subscriptions for the Holiday Season. I'll be fine. Celebrate with your family and friends, and hopefully while you're doing so, you'll have a new video to watch as well.
Thank you for supporting!
Best wishes
