Raycevick's Recommendations: The Italian Job (1969)

The Italian Job's one of those movies from the 1960s that doesn't feel like something from the 1960s... well, maybe in regards to its cars, gags, and general atmosphere, but from a filmmaking standpoint, it's still one of the best looking, one of the most intelligently paced, and one of the most bombastic action adventure films of its time.

Some of the shots are absolutely spectacular to this day, and despite being edited in a time before non-linear editing on computers, it's cuts, gags, and transitions, are very modern and often earn a laugh.

It's the kind of film that makes you want to make things like it, something that brings such a smile to your face from start to finish.
