So, this isn't always true, but typically, if I'm still thinking about scenes in a movie 5+ years after watching, it must've done something right. That's Lord of War for me. While I've not watched Andrew Niccole's most famous films like The Truman Show or Gattaca, Lord of War is fantastic.
One key part of how this film stands out is how much it puts the anti in anti-hero. Nicholas Cage is charismatic as all hell, his lines are very quotable, and he'll even make you laugh, but that doesn't make his character noble, not in the slightest, and don't go into this film expecting its protagonist to have a change of heart.
But that's the honesty of it. We don't really get big budget character explorations these days, and Lord of War is likely to make you wish for more of them.
