Recommendations: The Boys
Added 2023-05-22 13:00:02 +0000 UTCI've always been on the verge of recommending The Boys, but not only did I feel there were better shows, The Boys for all its enjoyment was a little too obnoxious in areas for me to be 100% board with.
The irony is, Season 3 is the loudest, most overt, and on the nose season yet, in its violence, topics, references, and characters... and I think that's why I kinda loved it.
It's become completely unique.
Whereas before, I felt at times like I was just reading the edgiest panels from Mark Millar's Wanted comic, now I'm watching a better written version of that on-screen with a proper budget properly used all with a cast of characters that whether you love 'em, or love to hate 'em, are seriously engaging.
It helps too that while Butcher and Homelander are scene stealers, a lot more of the cast is given the chance to pull their weight this time too.
It's not faultless, but Season 3 easily won me over, and I'm looking forward to seeing these characters and their... bizarre adventures, all over again.
