Recommendations: Sempiternal by Bring Me The Horizon

After recommending Bring Me The Horizon's Post Human Survivor Horror EP, I was encouraged by Patrons to give the band's earlier work a try. My initial reaction to Suicide Season was wanting to vomit, but just like Converge, I steadily became acclimated to Horizon's early Metalcore roots on that album and There Is a Hell.

While there's songs from both those albums I love, ultimately, Sempiternal the band's first complete package. The riffs aren't as intense but the production is supreme, the songs are varied to listen from start to finish, and album, especially songs like Empire, has such an epic quality that it's hard not to be absorbed by.

That each album is its own sound and style is something I massively respect, and enjoy about this band now.

Comments

It's indeed impressive how varied their discography is, but as a more orthodox -core fan I now view this as my personal downfall of not just the band, but the genre as a whole. The first three albums are still great and the more post-rock cuts on this are also good (Deathbeds from the bonus EP is actually one of the best things they've ever written), but it's just not for me anymore, I want breakdowns and screaming

Holy Shift

i was listening to that Bring Me The Horizon's album in the first week of this month. xP It was pretty fun.
