I've been meaning to watch David Lynch for years, and having finally come around to seeing this film, what's considered his magnum opus by many, it's obvious why.
This film is so unique even 20+ years after it's been released. Little else is this simultaniolusly campy, dramatic, hilarious, and unnerving to the core.
More than the laughs and thrills though, I came away from this film with a surprising heart and empathy for the characters invovled. What starts out as a mystery becomes so much more surreal yet tangible; the only thing that really evokes it are The Sopranos dream sequences, which, surprise surprise, are heavily inspired by David Lynch.
If you enjoy this film as much as I have, you're likely to also add Lost Highway and Twin Peaks to your watchlists.
