Recommendations: The Sky, The Earth & All Between by Architects

Well, it seems that Jordan Fish can get me interested in anything.

While plunging further and further into the depths of Metal these last few years, Architects was a band I only saved one or two songs from, none of which coming from their last album that seemed to be the Black Sheep even among fans.

My timing however just happened to coincide with this Album's 2nd Single, Curse, and it earned many, many repeats from me, enough to keep an eye on this album's eventual release...

And won me over by the first track, Elegy.

Compared to previous album's I've recommended, this release doesn't have their cohesion, there's tracks on here that probably won't get added to any of my playlists, and I can even see some of the talks beginning online that Mr. Fish's production has its crutches. If you've listened to also recommended House of Protection or Bring Me the Horizon, you won't find any surprises here.

And if you're not a fan of screaming vocals, blast beats, or Djent tuning, this won't change your mind.

In the meantime, I'm going to repeat Brain Dead at full blast in a house with absent roommates while I can!

I’m going to go see these guys in Lyon next week! Super stoked, this album is just so “Architects” and I can’t wait to hear it live.

As a long-time follower of the band, I'm conflicted on this album. It's definitely a lot more enjoyable than the previous two attempts at stadium buttrock, but it's just Jordan Fish-core with close to none of the elements that made Architects Architects (the bridge of Evil Eyes is almost the only example). But I want to return to this album and it also makes me interested in checking out Poppy's latest release in full, since I'll get more of the same but with female extreme vocals this time. Losing the main songwriter to melanoma hit the band harder creatively than we can imagine. I would recommend you try Daybreaker — everyone slobbers over LF//LT as the album that defined metalcore of the second half of the 10's, but Daybreaker is more varied in dynamics, has more singing and is generally more emotionally charged, while not lacking in political commentary
