Recommendations: Blackkklansman
Added 2024-08-27 02:06:50 +0000 UTCOutside one other film I swore was recommend on this Patreon before, but apparently hadn''t (that might change next month), I'm not familiar with Spike Lee's work. I know of him, but is yet another great name that I just haven't gotten around to combing through the discography of.
Blackkklansman however doesn't require familiarity to immediately note a vision that's as passionate as it is powerful.
The film is a roller-coaster, leaving my family and I nearly spitting out drinks in laughter, while also delivering a conclusion that's so moving, so sobering, I'm not sure I'll ever forget it.
I'm aware that Spike's output in the last few years has been anything but a string of home runs, but it's been a long time since I've seen a film that was so obviously, purely through its own artistry, a passion project, and is an absolute treat to watch as a result.
