So, this is a bit of a quick, late-hour update coming on the heels of a pretty controversial change on Amazon’s Kindle policy set to go into effect this Wednesday, February 26th.
I haven’t informed myself thoroughly on the subject, so please, take this update with a grain of salt. I will link a few videos here that explain the topic and the controversy in more detail.

So, apparently Amazon is removing users’ ability to download file copies of their Kindle books to their computers or other digital devices.
This rule apparently (and I stress this word here: apparently!) only applies to a manual download option through USB. The way I see it, it’s still possible for users to send their Kindle book copies to other devices via wireless methods—though I’m not sure if this includes all devices or only devices and accounts linked to the Amazon ecosystem.
Regardless, this is another instance of a phenomenon that, sadly, has become recurrent in the past ten to fifteen years: the enshitification of the Internet and digital services in general!
In short, every digital service, web product, or basically anything related to technology in general, at least here in the Western world, has become gradually worse—to the point of unusability in some cases.
I’m not sure what you can do about this Amazon situation in specific if you’re an avid Kindle user. If you, however, are dedicated consumer of my erotica and other writings, please remember that you have full access to all my books available on patreon dot com slash gigi potemkin!
Every time I publish a book there, you can download the files (currently offered in three formats: PDF, Microsoft Word, and an ebook-ready file!) and keep them forever!
Let me repeat: you can download and keep my books forever in my Patreon—at least the digital formats, naturally. For physical copies, like paperbacks and hardcovers, I’m afraid you can only get them through conventional online retailers—but I don’t see any way of Amazon meddling in those files… yet!
Anyway, this is a warning (and a bit of a shameless promo plugin) that you download all the books from your Kindle, if you have any, come February 26th. After that, god knows how you can get access to these files outside of, you know, manually hacking into the device (which I don’t recommend, personally, unless you absolutely know what you’re doing).
Again (and this is yet another shameless plugin), Patreon subscribers keep all the books I publish there forever! Just download all the files I make available, DMR-free, and enjoy them any time you want regardless of whether my Patreon remains active or not!
