Korra - Preview

I thought this would be a good oportunity to make a different type of image. I wanted to focus on the part of the story she was recovering in the 4th season and making something a little more peacefull and gracefull.
So I did a bit of research on the fighting techniques and how they relate the water bending with Tai Chi and the flowing of movements.
Was really interesting to keep in mind the movement of the torso, and have the arms basically "following", definitely different from what I use to do.
The water right under her hand is with that "wavy" movement, to give the idea she's not quite there yet.
Anyway, wanted to take this opportunity to make something different, and I hope you guys like it!
And don't worry, the nsfw is slightly different to make more sense lol

While admittedly I haven't seen season four, based on this sketch I'd have no problem imagining a woman doing those exercises in the nude. Anyway, I really like the flow and the pose so far. Looking forward to the finished product!

2019-12-05 05:18:24 +0000 UTCyeah, I watched a few videos of Tai chi practice and there's a very specific posture and position of the body through the movements. I just changed it a little to make sure it made sense for the "water bending"

2019-12-04 21:06:43 +0000 UTCOh wow, you've really got a great sense of flow and motion with this pose, the arms in particular really sell that feeling with how the fingers bend at the ends, especially in her raised left arm with it bending, twisting, being foreshortened and having the fingers curl at the end. The way her right leg spreads out too and carries on the curve of her torso is also great, as is the twisting of her torso and the waviness of her hair. And judging by what we see of the background so far, it looks like it's going to feature a lot of motion too. Excellent work so far, definitely looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!
