Widowmaker

And it's finally finished! The coloring took me a LOT more time than expected. Since the image is intended to be a bit more monochromatic, it was a nightmare to get the proper contrast between the areas, so nothing got lost in the process.

Also, reflections are a nightmare to do as well! Remember me to always draw carpets from now on lol

So, all things considered, I had a blast with this one, wanted to give a more "spy movie" vibe, when she's just untying her hair while casually smoking ... and etc etc =D. I think it was fitting for her character =)

So, hope you guys like this one, and enjoy the rewards of february!

Thank you! And the perspective was a case of choosing the lesser evil. While I'm aware it's not technically 100% correct, it just looks better than the "accurate version". At the end I prefer to choose the "incorrect version that looks better" than the "correct version that doesn't really work with the rest of the composition" lol

Wow. Just... wow. Color, light, pose, the freaky statue in the background. I love everything about this. The perspective of the cityscape is off, but I only noticed because the picture looks like a photo.

It's funny because while I personally don't have any favouritism with purple, I end up using a lot because a use a lot of red and blue ... so purple kinda serves as a brigde to make the colors work together lol About the image, I had a few issues to make it work. While it worked great on values, once I started to add colors, there were a few problems with contrast. Basically the image was too "blue". The background was blue/white, she was blueish, the curtains were light blue etc. So I had to take a few moments away from the image to "reset" my eyes a bit, and started to try out a few different combinations, and one made the background more reddish, and it looked promissing, so I started to build on that. It's funny because I thought I'd have an easy time coloring this one, but it ended up taking a LOT more time than intended. But I glad it worked out in the end =D

Lee

why thank you! I'm glad you liked it! I definitely liked the result as well =D

Lee

thanks!

Lee

I improved the recent technique I started to use a month or so ago. There was a small issue with variants so instead of having a single layer controlling the lightning from all the scene, I made one for the character/chair, and another for the background. Just made sure they were "continuous", but it made a lot easier to control the variants =)

Lee

why thank you! I'm glad you liked it =D

Amazing! Love the pose, the lighting, and the outfit! This might be one of my two favorites of all of your pictures. :) Looking forward to seeing what else you create (as always)!

Now this painting immediately features a number of things I love, it's a night-time scene with striking contrasts in both colour and lighting and slap-bang in the middle of it all is a healthy helping of purple, my very favourite colour! 💜 Starting with that background, you've jam-packed it full of detail, from the rippling folds of a semi-transparent curtain, the city-skyline that even shows through the curtain, with the curling, twisting and shining textures of whatever that strange sculpture is but god damn, you made it look fantastic! The sofa has a lovely texture to it as well, while the tiled floor is simply amazing! The pattern through the tiles, the shifting colours and Widowmaker's reflection on the surface is all an insane level of detail. The table to her side looks wonderful too with the multiple shining metallic sections, with that central column having it's own reflective surface and shifting colours, even the chair she sits on looks great too with similar metallic shines on the legs. And the overall colours are gorgeous with the dark blue sky framed between the warm brown curtains, with the sofa also being a nice warm tone to contrast with the cool, greenish floor. What's also great is that all of the background colours are kept quite subdued, while the blues and purples of Widowmaker herself, mostly bathed in a bright light, are allowed to radiantly shine at the centre of the image, making her quite the striking sight. And moving on to Widowmaker herself, she looks utterly spectacular! Her face is so very beautiful with piercing yellow eyes, luscious lips and wonderfully defined features, I actually really like her nose with the darker tones around the tip and nostrils. The hair too is as fantastically detailed as ever and despite being in the shadow, it has a gorgeous shine running through it to really accentuate the shapes as it's pulled back. Her dress looks amazing with all of the rippling folds running through the material with an absolutely absurd level of detail to it, the hard edges, the texture, the lights and shadows, all of it is a joy to look at! (I also like how it's pulled higher over her left shoulder giving it some appealing asymmetry) And then there's Widowmaker's body... the detail in the anatomy and strongly contrasting lighting are so good! I love the definition of her neck and collarbone, as well as her raising, tensed right shoulder and how it connects to her chest. Her left arm and hand, as well as both of her legs, particularly the calves, have such a stark divide in light and shadow running through them that perfectly defines the plane changes and again is so very striking! And the little details within those shadows, like the details of her right knee or the shining line that runs through the light of her right calf, or all of the little bumps of her left hand, all of it is just fantastic! And lastly, all of her little golden jewelry gives nice little spots of warm contrast to her pale, cool skin tones, while the tattoo on her arm wraps around the forms so well with a tonne of detail. Amazing work on this one! I think you captured that spy/noir feel that you wanted perfectly and the colours/lighting are just gorgeous! Definitely looking forward to seeing the full sized image as well as the alternates 😸

Ciarán M

gorgeous.

It is amazing, had high expectations after I saw the sketch but you delivered... now just - I secons the motion she pulls the dress to the side a bit :D

This is some next level lighting Krys! Widowmaker herself looks amazing with the dress and pose but the light and shadows you used are great. Great stuff Krys!

Sweet mother of GOD!!! I don't even have enough words to express how insanely gorgeous this looks! There's so much CLASS about her! I adore that outfit, the colors and the lighting! I think this is the smoothest and the most AESTHETIC artwork you have ever done! Easily my new top 1 favorite of yours from now on! Man! I just can't imagine how are you going to top this one! But given how fast you evolve, I know you will and I always have just crazy hype for your art! Once again, thank you so much for making my lovely lady <3

Arch

Damn!

She needs to pull the dress down to her right a little more.

Sam The Man

Stunning! Did a double take first time I saw it! The composition, mood, disparate elements, it all comes together so well. Well done!
