This is remake of artwork I draw lest March! I drawn Hephaestion. I have been practicing by copying photos, so my drawing style has changed quite a bit since last year.
Most of the clothing is based on “Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army” by Donald W. Engels and “古代ギリシア 重装歩兵の戦術”( "Ancient Greece: Tactics of the Hoplite" )by Ryuta Osada.
Ryuta Osada's translation is somewhat of a mess (the names of the historical figures are often literal translations or mistranslations of Latin, not the Greek names used academically), and I am not sure I would trust this book, But he was a good painter, and I too used some of his drawings, which were based on ancient frescoes and actual armor, helmets, and spearheads.
I know this is quite dangerous, but Japanese translations in this area are very valuable and this book is popular...
In Engels' "Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army", there is a passage that reads, 'This is especially true when one re-members that they had to march for eight hours per day in the desert sun in extremely low humidity, subsisting on a diet of grain products, wearing their arms and armor.' In reference to this he wears Linothorax.
Thank you for looking at my artwork!
