Well, one of the things about this arc that can be discussed by now is that... the ants just started out as monsters, but they've become more and more human overtime. While Gon started out human, yet has become more and more like a monster the deeper we go into this arc.

Well, in real life there have been only 2 nukes used on a city. Which was done on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan by the US. The direct deaths in the 2 cities totaled a bit less than 100K, but there were also just as many injured people and no doubt quite a few were affected by the radation. But even counting those, it's a far cry from the 5+ million that were killed by nukes in the HxH universe (granted, I think it's implied the HxH planet has more humans than our world).
Anyhow, to this day, the US is still the only country in the world that has ever used a nuke offensively.

Also that is 100% Meruem. No human is surviving a nuke that exploded from his heart. Chimera Ants have a far more durable exterior than humans

Togashi's use of nukes in this show is basically him referencing real life events that caused horrors in countries, specifically referencing WW1 and WW2. It's also in line with Netero's last words to Meruem. Humanity has endless capacities to evolve, whether its good or bad for them

The King took the brunt of essentially a nuke, he's incredibly disfigured. Also if anyone is gonna know its the king, it's his royal guard, they have a deeper connection beyond explanation.
