Kandys/gaunaka and akinakes were drawn to represent the relationship between the Achaemenid Empire and ancient Macedonia.
I like the coins that Alexander I proudly hold akinakes... The inspiration for this artwork came primarily from this coin.
Gaunaka's design is from Alexander Mosaic and "Luxury and power: Persia to Greece", The boots refer to "the Parthenon frieze" and "Greek footwear and the dating of sculpture". "Lexicon of Argead Makedonia" was referenced and kausia was changed to petasos. Alexander I coins are also included in this book.
