Premium Rush
Joseph Gordon Levitt is a New York City bike courier, pursued by a cop played by Michael Shannon, who wants an item he’s delivering. A fun thriller yarn with some visuals taken right from Run Lola Run. Written and directed by David Koepp, who wrote past SoC faves Carlito’s Way, Snake Eyes, and Mission Impossible, as well as the 2002 Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, Panic Room, and Spielberg’s War of the Worlds.
Twelve Monkeys
In a future where humanity lives underground after a virus has wiped out human life on the surface, prisoner Bruce Willis is sent back in time to prevent the virus from ever spreading in the first place. Unfortunately the time travel sends him back too far and he ends up in a mental hospital with scenery-chewing patient Brad Pitt and sympathetic shrink Madeline Stowe.

Intertwining stories set on a single night about young people in LA looking to score cash, drugs, and/or sex. Made during the post-Pulp Fiction crime comedy boom, this still holds up as a fun time. Full of familiar faces including William Fichtner, Jay Mohr, Sarah Polley, Timothy Olyphant, Katie Holmes, Taye Diggs, Breckin Meyer, and a very young Melissa McCarthy. Directed by Doug Liman, who was hot off of Swingers, then went on to do The Bourne Identity, Mr and Mrs Smith and SoC fave Edge of Tomorrow.
